Florida Congressman Robert Wexler has been tirelessly working for the start of impeachment hearings on V.P. Dick Cheney's activities since mid-December. His petition at Wexler Wants Hearings has become a massive outcry from the American People for these hearings to begin immediately. As of the publication of this diary, he has collected 225,716 signatures and is 90% of the way to the Quarter Million Person goal!

Recently, he stood on the floor of the House and gave an passionate speech as he presented the People's demand for hearings. He clearly articulates the necessity of this action and, just as clearly, dismantles the excuses being used to ignore or deny this Constitutional mandate.
Since then, we have seen an indication that Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee John Conyers may be softening his hard-line 'no' a bit. Take a look at this video of Rep. Conyers discussing the subject here:
Please note that although he's giving reasons why he hasn't yet started the hearings, he stated that impeachment is not off the table!
