Did you hear Bush give credit to McCain for GI Bill!

Mon Jun 30, 2008 at 07:35:42 AM PDT

OMG!  did you just hear Bush take credit for the GI Bill!  I heard that McCain took credit for this bill at a town hall recently but today George Bush gave credit to McCain in a national press conference.  WTF!  here is the quote
"I want to thank members who worked hard for the GI Bill expansion especially Senators Webb and Warner, Graham, burr, McCain"

Rep. Wexler takes impeachment to Fox News

Fri Jun 27, 2008 at 03:05:09 PM PDT

Dear Friends,

Last night, while in NY, I had a whirlwind tour of a number of studios - not least of which my good friend Stephen Colbert.

Suffice to say, this time, I declined his invitation to "repeat after me."  I had a great time though, and if you haven't seen the interview, I'm sure it's available online.

However, I thought you'd be most interested in the fact that I took my argument for Impeachment Hearings straight into the heart of conservative media: Fox News.

Yes... they actually let me in the building.  Twice.

On both Hannity and Colmes as well as this morning on Fox and Friends, I explained my belief that Congress has no choice but to address these's obvious and deliberate abuses of power.

I argued that we can protect our nation - and still adhere to the Constitution.

We’ve only reached one in three hundred. . .

Wed Dec 26, 2007 at 04:02:32 AM PDT

For several days now, the tally at wexlerwantshearings.com has hovered just above 130K.  By my calculations, this means only 1 in every 300 registered voters online who support the idea of Cheney’s impeachment have signed Wexler’s petition.

It leads me to wonder:

Are my fellow Kossaks getting the word out?

Is there some unacknowledged resistance to Wexler’s petition?

Or, are we as politically impotent as our leadership seems to be?

A reminder of what you can do:  http://www.dailykos.com/...

Miami Herald: Wexler wants impeachment hearings

Tue Dec 25, 2007 at 12:56:29 AM PDT

Yesterday Bcgctn's Wexler, Gutierrez, Baldwin, Kucinich, and the People Call For Cheney Censure offered up a video of Rep. Robert Wexler's (Democrat from Boca Raton, Fla.) call for impeachment hearings and included a link to one of Rep. Wexler's most capable supporters: Florida Progressive Radio, which, along with FlaPolitics.com and a half-dozen equally vigorous netroots organizations down here, have helped push the issue into the mainstream press: The Miami Herald.

If you've read many of the 49-odd dKos diaries on this, you won't find much new in the Miami Herald story, but a substantial proportion of the 249,000 Miami Herald readers (holiday readership is higher) will be getting a factual look for the first time today.

This is an invitation to DailyKos readers to comment on the article at MiamiHerald.com.

Today, Wexler Got 4000+ Signatures Between 3P And 8:15P

Mon Dec 17, 2007 at 05:25:11 PM PDT

Update

As further proof of the power of, well, us, when I wrote this, towards the bottom I noted the signature tally at 84,107.

It is now 84,511 @ 8:54P EST. A few hundred might not seem like a lot but consider over the course of hours and days. You do the math.

Update II

I worked all day and am finally sitting down to eat dinner and relax. I'm going to call it a night, personally, but if you manage to get this on the rec'd list, let me thank you now and if not, as long as this helps drive home the message that we can have a strong impact, than I consider it a success regardless.

Have a good night!

It's not often that I write diaries and usually when I do, they're pretty atypical of my approach to politics: feh, meh, what can I do as an individual, all wrapped up in a healthy dose of liberal snark.

That changed a little bit today since I noticed several diaries over the last couple days regarding Wexler's website asking for signatures to his petition for/to hold(ing) impeachment hearings on Vice President Dick Cheney.

Impeachment hearings: Make the Republicans stand by their words.

Sun Dec 16, 2007 at 07:06:52 PM PDT

Being snowed in, I had nothing to do but catch up on work and watch the ticker at www.wexlerwantshearings.com The ticker is now at 62,622 signatures and rising by the second.

But I started thinking that if Congress received 62,622 callers, faxes, emails, or mail each day would they begin to listen to their constituents?

And what about the corporate media?

Would they be able to maintain the silence on impeachment if people were snapping at their heels too?

It brought to mind some of the words during Clinton's impeachment from the corporate media and their Republican sponsors.

Let's take a look at some of them... (from The Bulldog Manifesto in 2005)

Impeachment Hearings - Linkage to Wexler

Sat Dec 15, 2007 at 10:03:21 AM PDT

I apologize upfront for the brevity of this diary.  My purpose is to keep the link easily accessible to Congressman Wexler's impeachment hearings page.

Here is Wexler's statement at Huffington Post which explains what he wants to do.

Or you can directly click and vote in favor of hearings.
